I used an old Tatone timer to make a chute release to drop my 4 ounce Aiptek Pocket Cam X from my Blade 400 helicopter. The "Wind up reverse video was for fun, not to trick people. LOL You would think it was obvious, but a lot of people still believe I had a string on it. Ha ha. A servo could also be used but this simple setup can be moved from plane to plane very easily. I used an Estes Model Rocket Parachute. The winds were howling. These small helicopters have no weight or mass, so they really are like flying Frisbees in a wind storm. Hard to maintain a good hover that high up for me too, as I cant see the darn thing, even with my pontoons on! GoPro Hero 2 120fps Slow Motion FPV Airplane

GoPro Hero 2 120fps Slow Motion FPV Airplane Tube. Duration : 2.68 Mins.

The GoPro Hero 2 is equipped with an incredible 120fps mode called WVGA-120. At 120 frames per second, you can slow down even the fastest action to a crawl for some pretty intense slow motion scenes. Since I use the GoPro2 strictly for aerial video and FPV flying, I did some testing with the Hero2 on my Skywalker FPV airplane. The GoPro doesnt handle darkness too well, so I only shot about 10 minutes worth of footage as the sun set. As expected, 120 fps slows down really well when changed to 24 fps in Premiere Pro; you really have to be creative with your edits or even the fastest action sequences will get drawn out. My only complaint is the resolution. At 848x480, it becomes cumbersome to incorporate this footage into 1080p or 720p footage. The GoPro 2 offers other slow motion options at higher resolutions, but none feature 120fps like WVGA-120.

Remote Control with Real-Time Video Playback

This is our test flight using a Panasonic 179 camera shooting 1080i on our Copterworks airframe. It was pretty windy the day we shot this, and we have some tweaking to do on a little vibration in the video, but so far, I like what I see. We shot this in our front yard. Copterworks camera gimble is on the nose of the RC Helicopter. The RC helicopter is named "Robbie" after my good friend Robb Case who passed away in September 2007...he was the pilot of Chopper4, the NBC news helicopter in Columbus, Ohio.

First flight at the Empire of the new AR Parrot Drone RC Heli. It is controlled with the iphone and feeds live video from its two cameras to the phone so you can see and fly based on the live aerial view. Has to be the best RC I have seen yet. Can't wait till everyone is back from their productions and meetings so I can terrorize the entire office with it.
