I was flying my DH 9053 helicopter in the backyard the other day. The air was still and all was well with the world. Trouble was that up at around 70' the air was moving and the heli was drifting over towards the neighbours place. Attempting to return it to the ground too quickly the rotors crossed and it dropped from about 60' onto the roof of the house. Luckily only relatively minor damage occurred and it's back flying again. As you can see by the video the camera survived too. It's all fun, folks :)

A simple, example application of the 9DOF MARG sensor array and orientation filter shown in a previous video. When the angles of the camera pan/tilt/roll unit are controlled to be equal to the angles of the sensor, the camera points in the same direction as the sensor. An example use of this would be to have the sensor fixed to a persons head and the camera look in the same direction as the wearer. When the sensor is fixed to base of the the pan/tilt/roll unit and the angles of the unit controlled to be equal to the negative of angles measured by the sensor, the camera direction is stabilised to always be level and pointing in the same direction. This may be useful if the camera is to be mounted on a moving platform; eg a helicopter. While waiting for my Quadcopter with Camera Mount I wanted to test a mini camera I bought from DealExtreme. I attached it to my Blade mCP X helicopter witch is an ultra-micro flybarless collective pitch helicopter. The video quality is better that expected for the cheap mini camera.
